About

The Institute is led by Director Pierre Baldi, Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, and Associate Director Suzanne Sandmeyer of the School of Medicine. The Director and Associate Director are supported by nine core Program Area Leaders, representing the breadth of IGB inquiry. These research areas are Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Biology, Drug Discovery, Evolutionary Genomics, Medical Informatics, Functional Genomics, Disease Genomics, Structural Genomics and Systems Biology. Together this group of eleven serves as the IGB Executive Board.

IGB faculty and students come from five different disciplines on campus: School of Medicine, Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, School of Biological Sciences, School of Physical Sciences, and the Henry Samueli School of Engineering. IGB frequently has post-doctoral or faculty visitors.

The Institute is advised by a group of highly placed life and computing sciences industry executives, venture capitalists, and scientists. The IGB Advisory Board meets periodically with the Executive Board for information exchanges, to foster technology transfer, and/or for planning and direction.

Five core staff members support the Institute's activities. Inquiries about the Institute and its activities should be directed to the IGB Office.
